mindfulness

Mindfulness encourages us to pay attention to what’s happening here and now and not thoughts about the past or future. It encourages us to feel more and react less. It encourages us to be curious. We become kinder to ourselves and others and ultimately we feel happier.

The Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course is so much more than simply a way to relieve stress and anxiety but it does that too! It is a way of training the mind which has its roots in Buddhism. You can read more about the development of this course by Jon Kabat-Zinn here.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Course

The 8-week course is based on the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programme, originally developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn in the late 1970s. It includes meditation practices, inquiry and discussion on stress management. This course will give you the tools to manage stress and anxiety and enable you to build a regular meditation practice. • "Paradoxically, having taken the time to stop and enquiry has enhanced my energy levels and productivity, meaning that I have enjoyed more my personal connections and delivered higher standards of work. During the 9 sessions we had, I have gained clarity about what sustains my energy levels and what drains it, so I can consciously make small adjustments that make the difference between having a stressful or a joyful and intentional day. The structured and weekly homework has given me the tools to be able to develop some positive habits which I hope to sustain for good."

  • "Attending the MBSR course with Joyce is the greatest gift I could make to myself this challenging year. The course not only provides tools to manage stress and anxiety. It taught me how to build a regular practice and one of the outcomes is that I find myself more at peace and happier."

    – Martina

  • "I registered to the course hoping to learn more about mindfulness, and was pleasantly surprised as it was so much more than that. Joyce created a safe space where we could reflect on life experiences and how our meditation practice could help us respond in different ways. Having now completed the 8 weeks, I feel inspired and equipped to integrate mindfulness techniques such as STOP, gratitude and meditation in my day to day."
